IA Results

Hmm... It's been a while since I last updated my blog... Almost 2 weeks.

What have I been up to lately? Well, starving myself and exercising, to shed of the weight I put on during IA, as well as burn more fats that are waiting to be added back during my trip to Taiwan next week. I'm going to eat like there's no tomorrow.

Well, it's rumoured that results will be out tomorrow. There's a possibility it'll be out at the stroke of 12 midnight, which is 45 minutes away.

But I can't be bothered.

I'm going to bed now. Have a good night's rest. Wake up for a run tomorrow morning.

Then I'll have my breakfast, followed by cleaning up my house (as my frens are coming over for dinner).

Only after that will I check my results bah...

If I get A, I will honour my word to treat the Andy, Xiaohui and the rest to KTV. If...

Retail Therapy

I now understand why shopping can make one happy. Here are 2 items that are on my wishlist. Will get them in July (or when I feel like it!).

First up, Sony Ericsson G900. Will recontract middle of next month when I'm eligible (no pun intended).

What's new here? 5Mp camera, expandable memory of at least 4GB, touchscreen with stylus and most importantly, Wi-fi!

I've been looking forward to having a Wi-fi phone for quite a while. Was interested in getting N95 due to it's 8GB in-built memory, but it's too bulky and expensive ($658 with 2 year Classic Plan).

Caught sight of N82, but the buttons look too small for my fat thumb and fingers. Price wise, it cost $448, and it's relatively reasonable for me.

Was tempted to jump ship to Nokia once again, but with Singtel launching this phone in early June, I know I'll definitely stick back with Sony Ericsson. Plus, the launch price is at $428, which is cheaper than N82, and it comes with 1GB M2 card and bluetooth earpiece (not sure if promotion if it's still on).

With a $100 discount for Mio plan customers and $150 by trading in my K810, I just need to pay $178 by the time I recontract. Hope that the cost of the phone will drop in July but my trade-in value remains the same. Asking for too much, huh? Hehe.

(Prices accurate as of Friday, 20 June 2008)

Next, I saw this GOLA Dillon bag at World of Sports. So "kind of bag that Samuel will buy" right?

I like the exterior very much, and it has a large internal volume. Just nice for files, stationary, jacket and other essentials, something appropriate for next semester. Plus it can be slinged, hand carried and also be used as a shoulder bag (very metrosexual way of carrying, which I have yet convinced myself that I can carry it off man enough). Also, the finishing of the interior feels sturdy enough, unlike the cheap $20 cheong-ed Diesel bag I got in Ladies Market last year.

Price wise - it's definitely cheaper than the $150 GAP bag I saw a couple weeks ago. WOS retails it at $69.90. However, they're offering a 20% d/c and with the additional 10% d/c from my UOB card, the final price works out to be about $50.

The only drawback is that there are very few pockets in the bag, only 1 inside, but I think it shouldn't be much of a problem for me.

Was intending to go over to Taiwan to get such a bag, but I think I'll just buy it next week. Moreover, I checked online and it costs 29.90 euros before adding shipping costs. So think $50 sounds reasonable to me.

My only concern is that whether I should get a light brown and khaki color instead, since my current diesel bag is similar to the colour in the picture. Any suggestions?

Taiwan, finally...

Finally booked my tix to Taiwan!

Yeah, it'll be my first time stepping foot onto the island itself, excluding the transits I made at CKS Intl Airport in 2000 and 2001.

It'll be all round taiwan, including Taipei, Yilan, Taitung, Kenting, Kaohsiung, Nantou, Taichung and Maoli...

A pity it's a guided tour package rather than a free & easy. This implies more expensive trip, plus less to see, less freedom etc... But I'm too lazy to plan for a trip now, since I'm going with my dad. Plus, I'm just plain lazy lah...

8 Days of sightseeing, EATING and not forgetting SHOPPING (duh...)... Dates fixed: 7 July to 14 July... Super excited now!

However, there was a report that there was an earthquake in Southern Taiwan today. Hope I won't be affected at all, as Taiwan lies on the earthquake belt and is prone to typhoons too. Wish me luck.

* * * * * * * *

Anyway I'm broke. I'm on the verge of max-ing up my credit limit for my debit card liao... After paying for my op + the deposit for the trip, plus those +/- items here and there... Sianz...

Though I'm tempted to go for an extreme image makeover, I have to shelve those plans till late July. If only I can strike TOTO or 4D next week... Pls pls pls...

End of IA

June 6 marked the end of my 22 week industrial attachment journey at TOS.

Remember how I dreaded waking up at the unearthly hours of 530am, dragging myself to the bus stop waiting for the shuttle bus at 640am, having breakfast at TOS canteen by 7am, starting work at 730am and then leaving at 350pm.

It's now over and I'm ready to move on to my next phase of life, that's is HOLIDAYS! Yeah! I'm gonna have a good rest before I start my last year of Uni. FYP and stuff, those can wait first. For now, I'm gonna relax!

Anyway, here's introducing the 13 interns who were attached to TOS. Courtesy of Jeremy's, Wei Lun's and my camera.

Le dîner - Chez moi

It's been almost a month since I last blogged. Been busy with my final report, hence couldn't really spare time to blog.

Inspired by Janan's entry on his grilled (or is it baked) lamb fillets, I've decided to post an entry about the dinner I made tonight.

First things first, I do not consider myself a good cook at all. I just have this passion for cooking all along.

Why do I prefer eating at home? Perhaps it's because I have a greater control over the amount of salt , oil and all those miscellaneous stuff. And most importantly, no MSG, so I wouldn't have that thirst in the mouth feeling after dinner.

But I've been cooking more often after I started work as compared to school time. Stopped lately due to pressing issues like my IA report, but today's an exception as I was on half day off.

I believed my culinary skills have improved quite a bit over the years, as shown from the more complicated dishes I have attempted recently. But there's still a long long way to go.

For those without facebook, you can view the photos here (and there's a bit of photo-whoring by of yours truly).

Dish 1 : Pineapple Chix

The kitchen before it gets messy, dirty and greasy

Step One: Dip sliced chicken breast (marinate for at least 2 hours) in beaten egg.

Step Two: Dust egg-clad chicken with corn starch.

Step Three: Deep fry in medium heat under golden brown. Avoid high heat, unless it gets "chao-ta" easily. Also, amateurs do not attempt to take a photo while deep frying, risk you end up with chao-ta stuff or a deep fried camera.

Voila! Golden brown... Nice colour.. Yums!

Step Four: Add in pineapple sauce and water. Heat.

Step Five: Add in pineapples... Duh!

And there you go - my newest experiment - Pineapple Chix!

Dish 2: Baby Kailan with Fishcake
Need some greens to go with the meat...

Rice... Asian staple... Must cherish it, especially with the recent price hike. Anyway, I'm not a rice lover by the way...

My simple fare. Bon Appetit!

Chef & Satisfied Diner - C'est moi!

No leftovers... There's an old saying that if you finsh everything on your plate, your future spouse will have no pimples on his/her face... Did they mention that you'll grow fat if you eat too much too?

The only I do not like about cooking is the washing of dishes... Sianz to the max!

After washing the dishes, there need to clean up the stove and walls... To rid off the grease and grime from all that frying.

People say men who can cook adds value to his attractiveness... What do you think? Lol...

Maybe I should advertise myself on mocca.com.sg. Nope, not the "I'm selling my house... check out my matching pipes"... Rather, it should be the "I clean, cook and promise to be home by 7"... Any takers?
